Schmidt's Fleet Mechanic
Result Statement
The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the preventative maintenance and timely repairs of all Schmidt’s vehicles and sausage truck generators. This role ensures that all equipment is safe, reliable, and operational, enabling our team members to perform their duties effectively and safely.
Primary Accountabilities
• Uphold Schmidt’s Cause and Core Values
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all vehicles under the Schmidt’s umbrella, including:
- Columbus & Cincinnati sausage trucks
- Catering fleet
- Fairs & Festivals fleet
• Maintain accurate service records and schedules for all vehicles.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on essential equipment, including but not limited to:
- Power washers
- Air compressors
- Water heaters
- Generators
• Be available for on-call support to troubleshoot mechanical issues during vehicle operation and off-hours.
- Provide timely guidance or assistance to resolve urgent issues that may impact operations.
- Coordinate with operations staff to ensure minimal disruption to service.
• Adapt to evolving responsibilities as needed.
- Support the success of the company by assisting in other areas when necessary.
Secondary Responsibilities (Optional Skill Development)
• General repair and maintenance of:
- Grills
- Steam wells
- Garage doors
• Basic metal fabrication and welding tasks
• Support for facility-related mechanical needs as they arise
• Minor vehicle wrap replacement
• Minor building maintenance
• Panel fabrication and replacement
Qualifications
• Experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, including commercial fleet vehicles
• Knowledge of mechanical systems such as generators, compressors, and water heaters
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during vehicle operation and off-hours
• Familiarity with metal fabrication and welding techniques
• Basic skills in facility maintenance including grills, steam wells, and garage doors
• Willingness to learn and perform minor vehicle wrap replacement and building maintenance
• Ability to fabricate and replace panels as needed
• Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork
• Flexibility to adapt to changing responsibilities and support company success
• Must be able to be qualified to drive our vehicles (through insurance)
• Must be able to pass a drug test
